The Celtics have what it takes, according to Mock GM Sports Takeover

The Boston Celtics have what it takes to dethrone the Cleveland Cavaliers and win the 2017 NBA Championship.

The Isaiah Thomas led Boston Celtics are a force to be reckon with in the East and within all of the NBA. The C’s are currently behind at the number 3 spot in the playoff race just behind the Cavaliers and the Wizards. The Celtics have been playing .500 ball in the last ten games and haven’t been looking that great when leading in the fourth quarter but don’t let that fool you.

This Boston Celtics team has something very special, special like what it was when it was the Paul Pierce era. Brad Stevens is an phenomenal coach, a mastermind on and off the court. He understands how to coach different players with different skill sets. Remember that this Celtics team doesn’t have a “superstar” and yes Thomas isn’t a superstar just yet, he’s a very strong presence on the court, just not a superstar. Al Horford is a good complimentary player who hasn’t really been getting things done lately which has hurt the Celtics late in games. If Horford can step up in clutch situations i feel as though the Celtics will have that dynamic 1-2 punch that they need to make a run in the playoffs.

Rookie Jaylen Brown is one of the most athletic players i have seen in a while, his energy gets the whole team riled up. He’s a good defender and plays with a lot of heart, his transition game is when he’s at his best. The Celtics have a great defender in Avery Bradley which helps Brown get into transition. Bradley can knock down his shots when he is feeling it, if he can be consistent on offensive and keep that energy on the defensive side then i believe that the Celtics can be a scary team.

When you add to the fact that the Celtics also have Jae Crowder, Amir Johnson, Kelly Olynyk, Gerald Green, Marcus Smart, Terry Rozier, and Tyler Zeller all getting minutes and playing a crucial role for this Celtics team makes them flexible and helps Brad Stevens when it comes to matchups. The depth of the Celtics is what intrigues me the most because most teams only run with 8 man rotations and the Celtics have an 11 man rotation. Their players will be rested for big games and big situations, not many teams have this as an advantage. The Celtics do.

The Celtics recently beat the Cavaliers as LeBron dropped a triple-double but it wasn’t enough as the Celtics came away with the W. this just shows that on the best nights the Celtics have what it takes to beat the best team in the East. This is why the Celtics will beat the Cavaliers in 7 games to move on the the championship game and have a shot of winning it all.
